Ever since the Steam Machine was first announced, the biggest question surrounding it has been related to its price, namely how much it’d cost to own Steam’s new living room PC. After months of waiting, we have finally gotten a closer look at the price, and it is not cheap
Steam Machine UK Price and Storage Options at a Glance
- 512GB model – £879 / $1049
- 2TB model – £1,149 / $1349
- Steam Controller bundle – +£59
Two versions have currently been announced, one with 512GB of space, and another with 2TB. In the UK, the 512GB version will set you back by £879 ($1049) and the 2TB one by £1,149 ($1349). Those prices do not include the Steam Controller. Buyers who want one bundled with the system will need to pay an extra £59, which is still cheaper than buying it separately.
As you can imagine the price is just as high as most were expecting due to rising memory and storage costs, which have been affected by demand from AI and wider component shortages.

Those interested in purchasing one will have to join the list on the official page before the 25th of June 10 a.m. PT (6 p.m. BST). According to Valve, on that date, the list will be closed and randomized, and you will receive an email with your results shortly after.
Those interested can also look forward to the reviews which have begun trickling in to see if the performance is worth the price. Personally what sells the machine to us are not mainly the specs, but how small it is. According to the specifications provided by valve, it is roughly a 6-inch cube, which is really impressive.
We wouldn’t necessarily recommend this to people who already game on PC, but instead to those who might want to jump into the steam ecosystem if they’ve only got a console. Which is understandable since there are still tons of great games on the PC that are not available on consoles yet, like the excellent Wind Runners, whose demo we played recently.
Time will tell if this sells out as fast as the steam deck but we won’t be surprised if it does. In the meantime, be sure to check out the FAQ and details on the store page.
