Steelkrill Studio has recently revealed their upcoming psychological horror game, Where Dolls Hang, which is set in Mexico, and inspired by the country’s folklore and the real life Island of Dolls (Isla de las Muñecas).
In Where Dolls Hang, players will take on the role of a detective as they solve an unnerving mystery surrounding various missing people. Players will have to investigate this mystery by examining evidence, collecting clues and documenting crime scenes with an in-game camera and investigation markers, all while surviving the dangers lurking within the woods.
The developers also revealed an interesting addition to the game, allowing players to find and watch public-domain horror films in their entirety. Essentially these are complete movies that players can watch, with movies like the 1968 zombie classic Night of the Living Dead mentioned as one of the available films.
The psychological horror game is described as a blend of The Forest, Outlast, P.T. and Silent Hill, combining survival mechanics such as crafting and exploring with a unique investigation system. Those interested can wishlist Where Dolls Hang on Steam, where it is planned to release sometime later this year.
