Firenut Games has released a new trailer for their upcoming psychological horror game, Baptiste, giving players a peek into the game’s story and the scares that await them.
In Baptiste, players take control of Tom, a troubled child who frees a creepy doll from its locked case, plunging him and his family into a terrifying journey. Through Tom, players will get to witness both a tragic family dynamic and a child’s struggle to cope with the emotional scars from a devastating event.
According to the devs, the game is inspired by classic horror tales such as Annabelle and R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps, particularly its popular story Night of the Living Dummy. The game is a mix of Layers of Fear and Annabelle, with scares on the level of Outlast.
With so many inspirations, it looks to be a very ambitious game, but there is also a downside to this, where the product can sometimes end up struggling with its identity, being a mishmash of conflicting themes.
Hopefully, the developers will do a good job paying homage to these inspirations whilst carving out an identity of their own. We will find out if they’ve succeeded when Baptiste launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam later in 2026. The Steam page also features a playable demo.
