Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis Takes A Deep Dive Into Egypt

Crystal Dynamics pulls the curtain on Tomb Raider's most iconic level, and teases the improvements in store for players when they revisit Egypt.

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis has gotten a new dev diary, this time diving into how they’ve brought the iconic Egypt level back to life.

According to the developers, they’ve worked hard to ensure that fans will be able to recognise a lot of the locations from the first game with new additions and changes that will complement Lara’s timeless story and expand on what made the original so memorable.

Egypt is known for being one of the most iconic locations from the original Tomb Raider. It embodies the most powerful parts of the Lara Croft power fantasy and lets Lara dig into some actual tombs, where both fictional and real Egyptian gods were worshipped.

According to the developer’s blog post, no other location carries as much weight as Egypt, so they’ve ensured its gotten the effort it deserves. “It’s the most iconic location for Tomb Raider,” says Mateusz Dzięcioł, Level Designer at Flying Wild Hog. “It’s so profound in the history of the ancient world that Lara loved so much.”
