The latest developer diary for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis focuses on how Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog took the spirit of the puzzles in the original game, and updated them for modern audiences.
According to the developers, it was important for them to tailor the puzzles around archaeology, which ensures that each puzzle not only feels fun to play but narratively makes sense to the locations Lara visits. As an example, places like Greece and Egypt will have different approaches to puzzles that fit within the context of their respective history.
This direction further influences the level design, prompting players to utilise Lara’s agile traversal skills to overcome challenges that are thoughtfully implemented into the environments themselves.
This is the 5th entry in the series, and we previously covered the 4th episode which showcased Lara Croft’s improved traversal and movement. The rest of the episodes can be found below:
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis will launch February 12, 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Nintendo Switch 2.
