Dune: Awakening Deep Dive Reveals Console Launch Details And New Single-Player Additions

Funcom has released a new Dune: Awakening deep dive video ahead of the game’s console launch, highlighting what has changed since release, the upcoming physical editions, and the single-player additions that will let players experience Arrakis on their own terms.

Ahead of its console launch on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, developer and publisher Funcom has released a comprehensive deep dive video that takes a look at everything that has changed in Dune: Awakening since launch, and gives a hint at what’s coming next.

What’s more, Funcom is collaborating with Bandai Namco to release physical editions of the game on PlayStation 5, which will include exclusive items like the Terrarium of Muad’Dib and a global color swatch for a limited time. This benefit will also be available for people who pre-order the game digitally on the PlayStation or Xbox Store.

We have played a lot of Dune: Awakening on PC since release and currently have over 100 hours of gameplay in it. It is one of the most exciting survival games we have played. It does a great job capturing the atmosphere and pacing of Denis Villeneuve’s epic Dune saga, even letting you play with the tech and powers seen in the movies. Not to mention it features really memorable music by the award-winning composer, Knut Avenstroup Haugen.

We are particularly excited about the single-player additions, as players will now be able to play the game alone, and be able to tweak everything from harvesting rates to experience gain and combat difficulty. Check out the full list of additions here.

We are glad more people will be able to try out Dune: Awakening themselves when it releases on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox Game Pass on the 22nd of September, though we do hope they are able to make cross-play work somehow, as that will not be possible at launch.

Those who are looking forward to Denis’ epic conclusion can look forward to Dune: Part Three which releases in theatres on the 18th of December.
