Insomniac’s Marvel’s Wolverine panel was packed with announcements, giving us our first story trailer alongside details of its Marvel Tokon collaboration, the reveal of the game’s composer and news of a new prequel comic.
Marvel’s Tokon Collaboration
Insomniac Games revealed their collaboration with Marvel’s Tokon: Fighting Souls where both games will share their costumes with one another. Meaning that Tokon will be getting insomniac’s Battle Reborn suit whilst Wolverine will get Tokon’s stylised suit.
I appreciate the fact that Marvel’s Wolverine suit borrows the stylized cel-shaded look, which not only makes it stand out but captures the strength of the fighting game’s beautiful artstyle. Then again, Insomniac are known for their amazing costumes, especially with their Spider-Man games.
Insomniac has also confirmed that both suits will be completely free for all players, meaning that Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls players can use the suit immediately starting September 1.
Original Score Details
One thing that has always stood out to me is how strong Wolverine’s theme sounds. The wails that usually play during the title reveal have already become particularly memorable. I initially thought Joe Paesano might return to compose Insomniac’s latest, but that is not the case.
It was confirmed during the SDCC panel that the score has been composed by award-winning composer David Fleming, who most recently co-composed DC’s Superman (2025) alongside John Murphy. Marvel’s Wolverine, however, marks his first official venture into video games.
According to Insomniac, Fleming’s score adds enormous impact to the story, with musical cues and swells that dynamically shift alongside Logan’s intense journey around the globe. Insomniac has also released Logan’s theme, giving us an early taste of how this will sound in the game.
There are multiple textures present throughout the theme, inspired by different parts of the world and Logan’s decades-long journey. It starts with an American country flavour before slowly shifting towards East Asian influences and rounding things off with ancient-sounding woodwinds.
The full original score will be released on August 28, 2026, giving us the chance to hear it a few weeks before the game launches.
Wolverine Prequel Comic

Marvel’s Wolverine has also gotten a comic book that serves as the official prequel to the upcoming game. It has been written by Insomniac Games’ Narrative Director Walt Williams with beautiful art by Luke Ross and a stunning cover by Iban Coello.
The prequel comic sets up Logan’s arduous relationship with members of Team X as they prepare to infiltrate Sentinel creator Bolivar Trask’s secret base, which hides a horrifying secret that will tear the team apart.
It is now available to read online via Marvel Unlimited, with those who were lucky to attend SDCC having gotten it as an exclusive giveaway.
Marvel’s Wolverine releases on September 15, 2026 for PlayStation 5, with both standard and deluxe editions available to preorder through PlayStation Store.
