Ace Combat 8 Is Getting A Live-Action Series Ahead Of The Game’s Release

Brandon Routh, Josh Holloway and Tamlyn Tomita star in the explosive prequel to Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve

Bandai Namco has announced Hour Zero, a live-action prequel to the upcoming Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve, created to introduce newcomers to the world of Ace Combat.

The mini-series boasts an impressive cast, featuring Josh Holloway (Lost, Yellowstone), Brandon Routh (Superman Returns) and Tamlyn Tomita (Cobra Kai) who will be headlining the 4-part mini-series.

The mini-series serves as a prequel to the events of Ace Combat 8, and follows three strangers who survive the opening days of Sotoa’s invasion on Central Usea. It is grounded in their family lives, with their stories counting down to the moment their lives shattered and war began, setting the stage for Ace Combat 8’s thrilling story.

Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve follows a legendary ace pilot fighting to liberate the occupied Federation of Central Usea. They must team up with three talented pilots to repel Sotoa and ultimately become a symbol of hope for their homeland in the process.

The prequel mini-series will begin on the 15th of September 2026 and conclude ahead of the game’s launch on 2 October 2026 for the PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
