We got an extended look at the gameplay from the upcoming Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons, showing off the sandbox nature of the game, teasing how the world reacts to your actions.

What really piqued our interest was how reactive everything was in the gameplay, allowing you to interact with the environment at a depth we were not expecting. It seems to channel the sandbox interactivity we’ve seen in games like Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, where players can solve problems using a clever combination of different abilities.

What really impressed us was just how reactive the world was to your actions. In one of the scenes, Kaatri can be seen using lightning attacks that react to the environment around it, travelling between conductive materials and different enemies. In another instance, to clear a gap, Kaatri seems to create an adhesive point on a wall, sticking a nearby piece of rubble that she can jump on.

Honestly, there was a lot to be excited about in the Gamescom reveal, everything from the powers to the combat abilities looked impactful and grounded in the world around it. At the very least, it looks promising, so we hope that Invoke Studios can deliver on the ambition shown.

Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons is currently in development for the PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It is unclear whether it will release next year but we hope the developers take their time to deliver what can be one of the most memorable games to come.
