To celebrate World Conservation Day, Frontier Developments had given us a closer look at the stunning Scottish Highland Reserve, which will be a playable area in the upcoming Planet Zoo 2.
The video shows off the unique beauty of this environment with dramatic mountain landscapes, natural waterways, and true-to-life Scottish Highland scenery. It is evident from the trailer that Frontier has really improved on the already beautiful graphics of its predecessor, Planet Zoo.
Wildlife Reserves will be a feature introduced in Planet Zoo 2, allowing players to design and observe a network of natural homes that let animals thrive, all whilst maintaining a minimal staff presence. Within them, players will also be able to conduct research and partake in conservation projects that help them improve their zoos with better habitats.
A few animals can also be seen in the video, such as the beautiful Red Deer and the majestic Golden Eagle. They are shown in their natural habitats, highlighting the critical role of preserving these incredible ecosystems.
We are huge fans of Planet Zoo at As We Play, especially due to the fact that it gives us a unique insight into caring for different animals, with each having realistic behaviours and unique needs that not only allow them to survive but also thrive. So, to say we are excited for Planet Zoo 2 would be a huge understatement.
Planet Zoo 2 will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on 13 October 2026. In the meantime, be sure to visit their website for more information and check out our previous coverage on its predecessor’s excellent DLCs.
