Capcom has just announced that it plans to release Onimusha Way of the Sword earlier than initially planned, most likely to give it some breathing room amidst a content packed September. Instead of the 25th of September, Onimusha Way of the Sword will now be available on the 4th of September this year.

There is no doubt that September is already an important month for games, with games like Marvel’s Wolverine, Onimusha, Silent Hill Townfall, Blood of the Dawnwalker and Control Resonant all releasing in the same month. In fact, both Silent Hill Townfall and Control Resonant are scheduled to release on the same day on the 24th and Dawnwalker releases a day before Onimusha on the 3rd of September.

October isn’t looking any better either with the releases like Ace Combat 8, Gears of War: E-Day, Phantom Blade Zero, Hellraiser and more scheduled for that month. So, it makes sense that Capcom would reschedule Onimusha for early September instead as August is relatively less packed.

This is of course due to the fact that most publishers want to stay away from the juggernaut that is Grand Theft Auto VI which releases on the 19th of November. We would not be surprised if quite a few games from September/October would have preferred to release in November instead.

Onimusha releasing early is good news for us however, since we are really looking forward to it, especially after playing the demo which we found to be really fun.
