Say what you want about The Last of Us 2, but the complex animation system and the overall combat feel in it was brutal, almost second to none. Every hit had a unique reaction and every kill was gruesome.

Honestly, it then makes sense that Neil Druckmann, the director of the series would want to make an equally brutal Punisher game. He revealed which games would be his dream to work on after Kinda Funny’s Greg Miller asked what established IPs he’d love to make.

It really does feel that Naughty Dog would be a great fit to create something as brutal as that, with a narrative prowess to match the recent netlfix series. Other notable IPs he mentioned were Ghost Rider and Cowboy Bebop. Fingers crossed he gets his wish!
