Whilst the animated Netflix series looks to be bringing back the iconic Resident Evil characters and setting, the live action counterpart doesn’t exactly sound promising, ignoring series staples for unknown characters.
Hopefully (and this is a very big hopefully), the live action movie reboot will be much more faithful than the live action reboot. It is being helmed by 47 Meters Down’s director Johannes Roberts and will feature iconic characters such as Chris and Claire Redfield, as well as Jill Valentine. Joining them will be Leon S. Kennedy, Albert Wesker, and William Birkin.
It looks to be an origin story set during 1998 in Raccoon City. The director also assured that it will have more faithful ties to the iconic games. It is definitely a welcome news, as Anderson’s film series hasn’t had much of a warm response from the series fans.
With this movie, I really wanted to go back to the original first two games and re-create the terrifying visceral experience I had when I first played them whilst at the same time telling a grounded human story about a small dying American town that feels both relatable and relevant to today’s audiences
