Say what you want about 2008’s soft reboot, but that game was way ahead of its time, I mean what other game would let you take a plastic bottle, fill it with gas, wrap it with sticky tape, then allow you to puncture it so you can attach it to a wall or an enemy and watch them make a trail back to their nest, which you can then just set on fire?

Especially when compared with the absolute abomination that was Illumination, and the Uwe Boll movie we dare not discuss, it was a very underappreciated game (despite its technical hiccups). Which is why we are so glad that Alone In The Dark is not only coming back but doing so in a classic survival horror fashion!

The new Alone in the Dark will again follow the series iconic Edward Carnby and Emily Hartwood, who will both be playable. It will be a reboot of sorts, where the developers promise to emphasise the survival horror aspect of the series, especially since AITD was so crucial in introducing it as a genre.

Deep in the 1920’s south, Emily Hartwood’s uncle has gone missing. You can either slip into the role of private investigator Edward Carnby to lend a helping hand while uncovering the mystery or play as Emily Hartwood herself, as she embarks on a journey to Derceto Manor, a home for the mentally ill where something is lurking. You’ll encounter strange residents, nightmarish realms, dangerous monsters and ultimately uncover a plot of rising evil.

It is currently in development for the PC, Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
