Ubisoft had such a great opportunity to revive the popularity of Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag, one of the most celebrated pirate games. However, due to their need to turn everything into an infinitely-repeatable online experience, it seems they’ve learned the wrong lessons for Skull and Bones.
Two new trailers were released, showcasing the setting as well as the gameplay of Skull and Bones. Sadly, there doesn’t seem to be any sort of on-foot combat, exploration or immersive ship boarding present in this game. Which, in our opinion, takes out an important chunk from the pirate fantasy.
Overall, it is quite disappointing, and we are not sure if Ubisoft will ever hit the highs of its past when it was releasing unrivalled single-player content such as Splinter Cell, Prince of Persia and a lot more.
Skull and Bones will be available on 8th November, 2022 in two editions, Standard and Premium, on PS5, Xbox X|S, and Windows PC
