Square Enix has sold one of its most iconic studios, Crystal Dynamics, including the IPs it owned such as Tomb Raider, Deus Ex and Legacy of Kain to the Embracer group for a whopping $300 million. Embracer currently owns over 75 different studios, with current titles in development ranging from Saints Row to Dead Island 2.

Honestly, even though acquisitions are generally a hit or miss deal, we are glad that CD is out from under SE’s thumbs. Avengers was such a disappointment to most fans, and you could see SE’s influence on the final product which included mind-numbing micro-transactions and expensive cosmetic skins.

Hopefully, Embracer will be able to provide a better home for these IPs and maybe we will finally get the ending chapter to Jensen’s Deus Ex saga.
