After years of speculation, and fan desire, series creator, Ron Gilbert has finally confirmed the existence of another Monkey Island title currently being worked on, Return to Monkey Island.
According to some tweets, Ron intends for RTMI (Return To Monkey Island) to take place after the events of Monkey Island 2 but will take care not to disrupt the cannon crafted from previous sequels. In fact, Murray from Curse of the Monkey Island himself was seen in the trailer, hinting at his return.
Not much is known about the release date or platforms at the moment, but it should arrive sometime this year. The game is being developed by Ron Gilbert’s Terrible Toybox in collaboration with Devolver Digital and LucasFilm Games.
