It has recently been announced that System Shock will be getting a live-action series that follows the unique sci-fi setting established by the games. It will follow the harrowing story of Citadel station and its rogue AI that subjects the crew to unimaginable horror.

It will be premiering on the newly announced Binge platform, which is seemingly going to air shows and content based on video games. Ubisoft’s Driver series is one of the projects planned for it.

I think the potential for a good series is there but I am not sold on a video-game related streaming platform, especially as it’s not backed by a major production company or notable talent from what I can tell. It gives me a bad deja vu of youtube red or Quibi, both of which are not really popular.

In fact, Quibi was shut down barely 7 months from its launch, showcasing how hard it is to create a new independent streaming platform. So, here’s hoping that Binge.com will actually premiere quality content that doesn’t look like a fan film.
