More games were recently announced for Xbox’s FPS Boost program, adding games such as DiRT 4, Wasteland 3, Watch Dogs and many more! Impressively, as of now Microsoft is offering over 70 different last-gen games that make use of improvements such as FPS Boost or Auto-HDR in some cases.
This feature works by making use of the new Xbox technology, especially on the Series X to deliver a better performance on last-gen games, using that extra processing power to both increase the frame-rate as well as implement impressive HDR.
For the full list of FPS boosted titles, you can read the official blogpost that is kept up-to-date by Microsoft. To see if the game you’re playing is running FPS Boost or Auto HDR, you can also now just tap the Xbox Button on your controller while in the game and you’ll see a Guide overlay indicator in the upper right corner if the features are enabled or not.
If you are not aware, as mentioned in the above post, some games are graphically intense which require the boost mechanic to lower their resolution in order to give you a reliable frame-rate, these are not enabled by default and have to be done so manually via the relevant game’s option menu.
