Indie publisher Digerati and developer Greylock are Thrilled to announce Severed Steel for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, scheduled to Launch Q3 2021. A single-player futuristic FPS, Severed Steel places us in the shoes of Steel who loses her arm in an accident caused by the corporation EdenSys. Left for dead, she sets out to rescue others that are trapped in the wreckage of the accident while enacting her own revenge on EdenSys.
Inspired by titles such as Black, Mirror’s Edge, F.E.A.R., and Half-Life mod ‘The Specialists‘, Severed Steel focuses on chaotic acrobatic combat keeping the player moving with a fluid stunt system that allows Steel to wall run, dive, slide, and flip around the environment – dodging gunfire and using her momentum to strike enemies.
Steel’s residual limb means she can’t reload weapons which require the player as they run out of ammo to find a replacement which often means stealing a weapon straight from the hands of an enemy. Steel is also fitted with a secondary weapon – an arm cannon capable of blowing holes in pretty much anything that gets in its way which allows the player to create new routes and strategies-though title the voxel-based destructible environment.
The trailer look very promising and fun, and I really like the Superhot and Mirror’s Edge vibe from its gameplay and visual style. I hope it develops a passionate following and manages to find that special spark which made its spirtual predecessors so exciting to go back to.
Severed Steel launches this summer on PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One, it will also be available on Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X via backwards compatibility.
