Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond is an upcoming VR experience that has been made with a proper blockbuster title in mind, putting players in expansive environments with in-depth mechanics.

Because of just how intricate the game and its systems look, we were not expecting it to have a relatively low pc requirement, but we were also not expecting it to be actually this high:

  • CPU: Intel Core-i7-9700K (or comparable AMD)
  • RAM: 16GB DDR4
  • Graphics Card: RTX 2080 (or comparable AMD)
  • Storage: 340GB required for installation, 170GB once installed (SSD or NVMe recommended)

As you can see not only do you need a beefy RTX 2080 GPU, but 340gb worth of free space is also required for you to be able to properly download the game. Of course you don’t need all of it to actually play it, but it is still space you will need to have cleared.

Oculus’ Mike Doran pointed out that you can get away with a lesser card, as the game was more CPU reliant than GPU, which sort of shows why an eight core CPU is needed. However, he did mention that players “might notice some more hitching / framerate dips”.

Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond is a throwback to where the series began, putting you in the middle of an important war as you interact and fight through various environments. The game also has a gallery mode which features accounts from real veterans talking about their past experiences. It will be available for Oculus Rift and Steam VR on the 12th of December.
