In what seems like a U-Turn from the usual third-person outings of Transformers games, Outright Games’ entry into the series is instead a turn-based tactical strategy game.
With Singleplayer and Co-op modes, Transformers: Battlegrounds is certainly looking like an exciting addition to the Transformers universe. Players command the Transforming Titans from Cybertron to earth, utilising their unique abilities to battle for the Allspark across four different arenas.
“As evil MEGATRON closes in on the Allspark, BUMBLEBEE and the Autobots need a new commander to help save Earth–you! Assemble your squad and roll out for a battle that will rage from CentralCity to Cybertron… and even to the local multiplayer arcade!”
Transformers: Battlegrounds features both the cel-shaded art style and the original voice cast of the Transformers Cyberverse TV series. Cyberverse debuted in August 2018 and starred Jake Tillman as Optimus Prime and Marc Thompson as the infamous Megatron.
On top of that, it shares a bevvy of the cast from its TV counterpart, including Soundwave, Windblade, Wheeljack, Arcee, Grimlock, Starscream and more.
Transformers: Battlegrounds releases October 23rd, 2020 on Playstation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam, with pre-orders available from the 2nd of October. Those who pre-order will be eligible for 10% off the digital deluxe console edition that also includes two exclusive skins – Nemesis Prime and Goldfire Bumblebee.
